York Theatre Royal, 2017

As Associate Director of Takeover, I headed up the festival's creative engagement. This involved organising and running events to engage people in York who might not have considered theatre to be for them. I was also part of the festival's programming team and directed pieces for these events.
Some of the projects I undertook as part of Takeover were:
-- a pop-up performance event around the York Walls, encouraging people to engage with theatre by removing the barrier of going into one;
-- a vintage fair with performances, capitalising on the popularity of vintage events in York to bring new audiences into the building and promote the festival;
-- a writing competition run with local schools, where 9-year-olds got to watch their plays performed by the YTR Youth Theatre in the Main House;
-- programming a Saturday morning show aimed specifically at young audiences.
