For my final show at RCS, I chose one of Alice Birch's earliest plays, which felt like a good piece to do at the start of my own career. The play tackles difficult topics and questions, following a couple's unimaginable grief and the effects on those around them during the world's worst dinner party.
While the script calls for some exciting production challenges - a dead bird in the pie, bleeding hands and feet, and the entire wall of a house coming down - it also offered me the chance to go into serious and rewarding depth with the actors, as we tried to understand why they act the way they do, and whether they can ever let go of the past.
